Praying Powerfully & Effectively: Doomsday Disciples Bible Study 2-20-2015

I have been asked to do more Bible Study on Spiritual Warfare, and the very most important thing, next to Faith & Your personal relationship with Jehovah, God- The Father, & Christ, His Son, you can have in your arsenal, when it comes to Photo Aug 17, 2 13 18 PMSpiritual Warfare, is PRAYER!When it comes to Spiritual Warfare you will be MORE EFFECTIVE if you have 1. A right relationship with God- With His Holy Spirit living, (unquenched) within you, 2. Faith in Christ & The authority he has given you (through his sacrifice, and the blood he shed for our sins) to cast out devils, heal all manner of illness & diseas 3. Ability to Pray effectively, and a 4. Sound, Working, Knowledge of God’s Word.

That being said, before we move on, to the meat & bones of casting out spiritual wickedness, (assuming you all are here, because you already know God, have faith in Jesus, & want to know more about the word)- we are going to focus, tonight, on learning more about PRAYING EFFECTIVELY, so we can be better equipped to face the spiritual battle that we as the church are seeing more and more of in these last days, as the spiritual veil is lifted, and the return of Christ draws nigh.

Many times we think our prayers are not effective- they are not being heard or answered.. We get discouraged. We may eventually even stop praying…. The truth is, sometimes our prayers ARE being answered- We just don’t know it! Because God, knowing better than us, is not answering our prayer exactly in the way we think they should be answered,(see how we just LIMITED God there?) or in the time frame we expect Him to operate in, we, in our limited, impatient, human understanding, think our prayers just don’t work. Well, that is not always the case! But sometimes… It is. Sometimes our prayers aren’t working at all! This Bible Study is about praying effectively so that you can pray powerful prayers, but in order to first pray effectively, we need to know which prayers DON’T work, and since those are much fewer than the prayers that DO WORK, let’s get those out of the way first.

Prayer that is NOT effective:

There are reasons why prayer is ineffective and useless: it’s because God does not even hear it – (look up and compare Job 27:8-9; Job 35:13; Isaiah 1:15-16; Isaiah 59:2; Micah 3:4; Zechariah 7:11-13; Luke 18:11-12). How solemn! But notice:
Prayer with a wrong motive cannot be effective. We learn this from James 4:3, and how often we pray selfishly! Only prayer which is offered for the glory of God secures His ear and His answer.
2. If we know of sin in our lives, prayer cannot be effective. We learn this from Psalm 66:18. (Psa 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:) How easy it is to harbour sin! We need to pray the prayers that David prayed – Psalm 139:23-24; Psalm 51:3-4, and act on 1 John 1:9.

3. An unforgiving spirit will hinder prayer. We learn this from Mark 11:25-26. Is this a possible reason why our prayers for the conversion of our loved ones are not being answered?
4. An unwillingness to be reconciled to someone prevents prayer from being effective. We learn this from Matthew 5:23-24. It is of little use to pray, worship, go to meetings, or engage in God’s service and to expect His blessing, if we are unwilling first to be reconciled to another believer.
A wrong relationship is a barrier in prayer. We learn this from 1 Peter 3:7. Perhaps our relationship with members of our own family is not all that it should be. According to this verse, that can be a hindrance to our prayers.

Job 27:8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
Job 27:9 Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?

Job 35:12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Job 35:13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Mic 3:4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.

Zec 7:11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. Zec 7:12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
Zec 7:13 Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:
Zec 7:14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

Praying Powerful & Effective Prayers:

Ask! (And for the right reasons!):
Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Ask with Confidence:
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Ask In Jesus Name:
Mat_21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Joh 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Joh 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Joh 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
Joh 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Pray In Secret:

Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
